Message Besides having a rather large "dead zone", often times they are malfunctioning or out of whack on our older cars. To be fair, they do warn you when you're getting into dangerous territory (230+) but many of us would rather have a good buffer zone of safety and choose to get aftermarket gauges (you can hide a digital one easily).

It should also be said that none of the temps I had before the H.I. were outright dangerous, they were simply less than ideal.
